This recipe is cooked with rice, grated raw mango and nuts teamed with light spices. Mangai Sadam makes for an easy-to-make lunch-box option, and is also a great way to use leftover rice. 


  • Basmati rice, cooked (1 cup)
  • Raw mango, grated (1 cup)
  • Mustard seeds (sarson) (1 tsp)
  • Split black gram (uraddal) (1 tsp)
  • Split Bengal gram (chanadal) (1 tsp)
  • Ginger (adrak), chopped (1 inch)
  • Dry red chillies (sabutlalmirch) (2)
  • Green chillies (2)
  • Curry leaves (kadipatta) (5-6)
  • Coriander leaves (haradhania), finely chopped (2 tbsp)
  • MTR Haldi Turmeric Powder (a pinch)
  • Oil (2 tbsp)
  • Salt (To Taste)


• Heat some oil in a kadhai. Throw in the sarson, urad dal and chana dal.
• Then, add chopped adrak, sabutlalmirch, green chillies, kadipatta and the MTR Haldi/Turmeric Powder.
• Add the grated mango, salt and sauté till it becomes tender. Add the cooked rice and mix well.
• Garnish with haradhania and serve hot.
